RUG MADE IN INDIA, 240 X 170 CM,
14/14 HAND-KNOTTED PREMIUM SILK AND WOOL FROM NEW ZEALAND, PROTOTTYPE, 2010.
With the graphic of the carpet, I refer to the production process of the rug: the working hours (4.363) and the knots (1.279.488) that were all made by hand. It makes you think about the real cost of things, about globalization. In a way I want to show respect for the people that put so much time and energy into make this carpet.
The attention goes to the details; every line is unique. You can see every unit, every knot. A rug refers to resting, lying down, relaxing… so take your time and stop counting.
